Ladybower Reservoir, Derbyshire 03-24
Ability level: all abilities
Duration: 4 hours
Distance: 5.5 miles
Trip leader: Di
There was a strong headwind and we hoped it would be a good opportunity to do some sailing, but the reservoir had restrictions in place, which prevented us from putting the sails up. But Di put the pole to good use and practiced some canoe poling!
It was Ruth's first trip in a canoe, and Pete and Jo worked well together in kayaks. We did some canoe rafting and pencil raft and tow. We stopped for lunch at the tip of the reservoir, and devoured the delicious bakes that Pete's daughter had made for us - yum! At the end of the trip we took a walk to see the impressive 'plug holes' - overflows for when the water level gets too high.
All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable day in the Spring sunshine.
